God Icon

Diovadiova Chrome explores the cultural, and spiritual symbolism of masks. It positions the portraits as universal avatars. GOD ICON expands on themes of religion, history, and royalty, further evolving the masks into distinct, individual personas.

In Yoruba, my last name translates to "Child of the Crown." My parents were part of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s and 1970s. They were both born in the United States, but like many other African Americans, they adopted African names to represent our heritage.

Idol Maker uses the visual and conceptual iconography of rap pioneers Salt n Pepa, The Virgin Mary and Lady Justice.
